Hi there! My name is Penny, and I’m a graphic design student based in Ottawa. I combine creativity with professionalism to produce meaningful work. The goal of this project was to create a fundraiser for a non-profit organization. I chose to support Breast Cancer Canada, inspired by women who get tattoos to cover their mastectomy scars. The event would be hosted at Ottawa’s oldest tattoo studio, New Moon Tattoo, where participants could get tattoos—real or temporary—based on their donation level.
I believe as a society we would be far more efficient and happy if we’re well rested so, I designed PodFinder. PodFinder is an app where one can locate, reserve, and pay for Sleeping Pods. The pods, which I also designed, would be made of lightweight, graphene-based 3D material that is 10 times stronger than steel. They would be self-cleaning and highly customizable to suit individual sleep needs.
Every designer can relate to noticing unpleasant design wherever they go. The goal of this project was to take a visually unappealing local brand and revamp it to reach its full potential. I chose Figure8 Skate Specialists, a well-known independent skating goods store in Ottawa.
